Lusitanea Ensemble bios:

Emilia Alves graduated in Viola by Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo with Ryszard Wóycicki.
Worked with Atar Arad at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Master in Education Sciences by
Faculdade de Educação e Psicologia e Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Member of the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música. Founding member of APVdA.

Jorge Alves is violist of Matosinhos String Quartet and Professor at ESMAE - Porto. He is Founder President of the Portuguese Viola Society (APVdA) and European String Teachers Association (Portugal). After finishing his graduation in Portugal, he was awarded a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation that allowed him to study during four years with Tibor Varga (Sion) and Bruno Giuranna (Cremona).

Rute Azevedo was awarded in viola and chamber music at the Radio National Competition PJM-RTP, Prize
António de Almeida for the best viola student at ESMAE and scholarship by Gulbenkian Fundation. Rute is
violist of the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música and teacher at Academia de Música de Costa

Carina Rocha is a founding member of the Portuguese Viola Association. She has attended masterclasses
with violists Ana Bela Chaves and Tatjana Masurenko, among others. Currently she teaches at the AMVP in Vilar do Paraíso, and since 2006 is the solist B at Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras in Aveiro.

Artur Caldeira is an eclectic guitarist connoisseur of several musical languages. Holder of solid classical training, he obtained extensive experience in various styles, playing with some of the best. Alongside his artistic activity, either with classical guitar or with portuguese guitar, he teaches at ESMAE, Porto.

Daniel Paredes is a young guitarist that has been highlighted by a large stylistic range. The acquired training with the guidance of Artur Caldeira has contributed to this. Currently he is attending the Master of Artistic Interpretation at ESMAE, studying repertoire for classical guitar influenced by jazz.
