Róża Wilczak-Płaziuk

RÓŻA WILCZAK-PŁAZIUK – a violist, graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Łódź, from the viola class of Prof. Z. Frieman in 1994 and then commenced her employment at the Alma Mater on the position of an assistant. She complemented her education at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart under the supervision of Prof. H. Voss (a KAAD grant-holder in1996-98). In 2009, she was conferred on the degree of doktor habilitowany (habilitated doctor) at the Academy of Music in Łódź. She has made numerous CD, television, radio and DVD recordings and is an author of the book on The creative use of instrumental attributes of viola by P. Hindemith, J. Brahms, B.Britten in their compositions for viola. She has premiered scores of contemporary music pieces (often dedicated to her). Concerto for viola and symphony orchestra by S.Zamuszko, featuring her as a soloist, (“Young Polish Composers in Homage to Frederic Chopin” S.Zamuszko – Works fo rOrchestra CD, published by DUX) has been placed many times on the “Playlist for Classical Discoveries goes Avant-Garde. Viva 21st Century (American Broadcast Premiere). In 2013 she took part in the 41st International Viola Congress in Cracow.
